Stand – Rascal Flatts

As the radio was blasting country music on my way back to Iowa tonight, I began wondering – why have I been listening to so much more country music lately?  I guess it’s just what I remember listening to all my years growing up in a small little country town, so it makes me feel secure and comfortable!

This past week has been particularly tough.  Why?  – Truth hurts.  I had no idea that so much had been going on for months and months while I was away.  I’ve felt heartbroken and humiliated just to say the least.  But – I also had a great weekend with my family at a women’s conference at church where I feel like I got another dose of strength I so desperately needed.  Well, on my drive back tonight, this song came to mind and really described how I’m feeling.  When I look back and see how far I’ve come these past few months, it’s amazing to me.  I’m so strong, independent, and beginning to find the joy again in my everyday life.  It’s been a struggle for sure, but I feel like I’m finally able to “stand” on my own and start my life over again.  New place to live, new full-time job, wonderful family and friends.  I’m so blessed.

Stand – Rascal Flatts

You feel like a candle in a hurricane
Just like a picture with a broken frame
Alone and helpless
Like you’ve lost your fight
But you’ll be alright, you’ll be alright.

Cause when push comes to shove
You taste what you’re made of
You might bend, till you break
Cause its all you can take
On your knees you look up
Decide you’ve had enough
You get mad you get strong
Wipe your hands shake it off
Then you Stand, then you stand.

Life’s like a novel
With the end ripped out
The edge of a canyon
With only one way down
Take what you’re given before its gone
Start holding on, keep holding on.

Cause when push comes to shove
You taste what you’re made of
You might bend till you break
Cause it’s all you can take
On your knees you look up
Decide you’ve had enough
You get mad, you get strong
Wipe your hands, shake it off
Then you stand, then you stand.

Everytime you get up
And get back in the race
One more small piece of you
Starts to fall into place.

Cause when push comes to shove
You taste what you’re made of
You might bend till you break
Cause it’s all you can take
On your knees you look up
Decide you’ve had enough
You get mad, you get strong
Wipe your hands, shake it off
Then you stand, then you stand.
